VALUE & COST ENGINEERING

Cost Engineering Consulting

Focus on Customer Value

How do you find the optimal price for your product? To answer this question, POLARIXPARTNER relies on effective Cost Engineering. Far beyond the consideration of classical material Cost Analysis, POLARIXPARTNER dissects products, components and processes into individual components and conducts comprehensive benchmark projects for you.

We create transparency regarding costs, identify and classify cost drivers and successfully develop action scenarios along the value chain. Whether Target Costing, Life Cycle Costing, Make or Buy Analyses or Product Cost Optimization, we work hand in hand with you to develop successful optimization approaches and implement them together. Benefit from our comprehensive Cost Engineering know-how.

Cost engineering with a clear focus

Cost Engineering is built on defined Product Positioning. Selected methods of Product Design ensure a customer value and best practice-oriented interpretation of the product and its functions. Another aspect of the methodology is based on the fact that the maximum total costs accepted on the market are broken down through Target Costing.

Detailed Product Analysis, Benchmarking of your products with competitive products as well as guidelines for Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Assembly and Service are crucial impulses for a more efficient Product Design.

Cost Engineering means for you:

  • Fact-based transparency with regard to market and customer needs, competitive offers and your own performance
  • Maximum forecast accuracy of material costs and production times through the application of effective cost models
  • Consistent Performance Measurement and Cost Transparency over the entire product life cycle (Life Cycle Costing)
  • Minimization of product costs and development times through continuous cost and process optimization

Life Cycle Costing

An important component of Cost Engineering is the cooperation of cross-functional teams (across departments and locations) through all development phases. Thus, Cost Engineering creates transparency in regard to manufacturing costs already in the product development process. Target costs can be viewed holistically and are thus included effectively in Cost Calculation.

At POLARIXPARTNER we support this approach using the Life Cycle Costing (LCC) methodology. Here, we consider the total costs in the early phase of the product life cycle and advise our customers on strategic decisions in the product development phase by means of an efficient Design for Manufacturing. The goal of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is to focus, as early as the development phase of a product, on subsequent production and manufacturing. Thus, a product can later be manufactured and assembled inexpensively, efficiently and ergonomically. The overall cost of the product can be significantly influenced and reduced by the early influence of DFM during the development phase.

The increasing price sensitivity of customers as well as the increasing cost pressure due to regional and global requirements increase the need for integrated cost reduction, cost avoidance and Cost Management. Competitive advantages in Cost Calculation are significantly achieved through the targeted use of POLARIXCOSTING, the costing software with integrated expert know-how and maximum cost transparency.
