The challenges within the competitive environment of the process industry are characterized by internal and external factors, which make specific optimization to increase efficiency essential.
However, comparing the statements made by persons questioned in the present study on the use of essential parameters of operational excellence with the answers for cross-interface planning, reveals astonishing inconsistencies. Most companies say that they are already exhausting all possibilities, but "firefighting" still impacts their everyday business.
Nevertheless, many of those questioned see the conceptual and sustainable potential for optimization. In other words: An integrated planning system of the supply chain and thus of the value flows with implemented cost optimization cycles is a hot topic.
